When to catch them
Redfish can be found in the Mobile Delta year-round, but the best time to catch them is in the fall. Some say the best fishing occurs when the water temperature is between 52° and 62° F.
Where to find them
Redfish can be found in many places in the Mobile Delta, including:
Flats: Look for fish on the flats south of I-10, especially where rivers form points.
Shallow bays: Look for fish on the banks of shallow bays in the lower end of the Delta.
Fish structures: Look for fish near sea walls and pilings.
Mobile Ship Channel: This channel has deep water and places for redfish to ambush bait.
Theodore Canal: This canal runs about 40 feet deep and enters the western side of Mobile Bay.
Marshes bordering Mississippi Sound: These marshes produce good redfish action.
